Requirements:
(1) Contact the USAMU S-3 (706) 545-7174 in order to request attendance to the course. Provide the following information: Soldier’s full name, rank, SSN, MOS, specific unit, WHAT WEAPON SYSTEM & OPTIC THE STUDENT WILL BRING TO THE COURSE, unit POC name and phone number.
(2) Sending unit will fund all TDY. The USAMU will not be responsible for any incurred expenses.
Weapons:
(1) Soldiers that are attending will bring their assigned weapon system with optics and back up iron sights. The USAMU has limited weapon systems that it can provide. These weapons will be requested during initial enrollment through the USAMU S-3 Shop and are intended for students traveling from OCONUS locations or students who are assigned to units without weapons (i.e. Captains Career Course etc.). No one will be allowed in the class without providing their own weapon system once all weapons have been issued. Soldiers will be allowed to utilize the following weapons throughout the course: M16A4 or M4 with day optic, Enhanced Battle Rifle (EBR) or 110 SASS with appropriate scope. If the student is going to attend the SDM course with an EBR or 110 SASS we need to be aware as soon as possible in order to allocate the appropriate ammunition.
(2) Soldiers will find the use of a magnified optic critical to course completion. The preferred optic is the ACOG or ELCAN. Soldiers that bring M68, EOTECH, and other “dot” optics will expect a training hurdle as these optics are difficult to accurately utilize beyond 400 yards with any consistency. Magnification adapters can reduce this limitation and allow the student to tackle the course objectives however they should not expect to match the performance of their magnified peers.
