2. To be eligible the soldier must be an E5 or above, or an E4 in a leadership position. Deploying units get priority. This is a train the trainer consequently it is not listed in ATTR’s.
3. . To get a seat your unit S3 must request it via email with the soldier’s full name, rank, SSN, MOS, specific unit, unit POC name and phone number. The soldiers unit must fund the TDY. Upon arrival at Ft Benning report to the USAMU HQ, building 243 at 0700 Monday for check in and weapons draw, class starts at 0715 for the CQM course. The SDM course attendees will report to building 243 at 0730 with class starting at 0800. We are located behind the old Infantry Museum.
4. We supply the SDM rifle, ammunition, and Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight (ACOG) during the SDM classes. The recommended items of clothing for SDM is: sufficient military uniforms (ACUs) for one week of range firing, 4 rifle magazines, wet & cold weather gear, prescription glasses and/or contact lenses, ID card, M16 cleaning kit, personnel hygiene items for one week, and civilian clothes.
5. The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit’s Close Quarters Marksmanship Course (CQMC) is a 5 day training program which focuses on addressing the Soldier’s need to rapidly and accurately engage targets at 0-150 meters under normal conditions. The program begins with the fundamentals of marksmanship and progresses to more rapid and accurate target engagements employing both the individual rifle and pistol. The skills that a Soldier can expect to learn include but are not limited to:
Fundamentals as they apply to CQM (sight picture, sight alignment, trigger squeeze…)
rapid and effective manipulation of individual weapon system for reloads and positioning
supported and unsupported position shooting
single and multiple target engagements
shooting on the move from close to intermediate ranges
effective employment of barricades
pistol marksmanship as it applies to CQM
transition from the rifle to the pistol (primary to alternate weapon)
shooters will learn how to analyze/self critique their performance in order to identify areas for self improvement
6. Firing for this course will be conducted on our new CQM range, Krilling Range. This range complex allows us to have combat based, scenario driven marksmanship experiences. Soldiers can expect to receive training at a fast paced and high volume level
7. If you are attending the CQM course: The arms room will be open on the Sunday prior to the start of the class from 1600-1800 for over night storage of weapons for soldiers on a TDY status. The arms room will also be open on the Saturday following the course from 0900-0930 for soldiers to draw their weapons to return back to their duty station. On the first day of the course you will need to be at BLDG 243 at 0700 to draw weapons. Once this is complete you will be transported by bus to our range facility. You will need all of your equipment. Our instruction is given on the range. There will be lunch opportunities but be prepared for abbreviated lunch times. You will be firing all five days of this course. Be prepared.
8. Equipment Needed: Uniforms for 5 days, weapons (to include a rifle and pistol, rifle may have any manner of sight), tactical sling, holster, LBV/IBA (whatever equipment that you normally use, do not try and be course specific, you will have the opportunity to set up your equipment to suit your needs), min. 6 magazines, eye protection, ear protection for 5 days, oil and weapons maintenance equipment, canteens/camelback, and Kevlar helmet. If you do not have access to rifles or pistols contact AMU S3 to see if anything can be arranged.
9. Each students unit is responsible for lodging, per diem and personal transportation. Transportation to and from the range with government weapons will be provided by USAMU. On post billeting office (Olsen Hall) phone number is 706 689 0067 ext 4701.
10. If you desire a SDM trainer (MTT) at your home station, you must have a KD range up to 500 yards, you will provide rifles, ACOGs and ammunition (600 rounds per student) or you may request that we bring rifles and ammunition. It will depend on what we have available and how we are going to get to your location. You will provide a classroom large enough for the amount of students you will have. You will have to provide funding for 4 USAMU instructors. The funding must be in place 5 weeks out from mission execution or the whole mission is a no go. You will request the MTT via email and we will negotiate the dates with you via phone with the DM team leader.
11. If you desire a CQM trainer (MTT) at your home station, you must have a 25 meter zero range minimum. It must be able to fire 9 mm, 5.56, 7.62 and shotgun on that range. You will provide all equipment and ammunition (800 rounds per student). You must provide a classroom large enough for the amount of students you will have. You will have to provide funding for up to 4 USAMU instructors from Ft Benning to your unit location. The funding must be in place 5 weeks out from mission execution or the whole mission is a no-go. You will request the MTT via email and we will negotiate the dates with you via phone with the designated CQM team leader.
