To help your planning

Summer days at Fort Knox are hot and humid, so dress accordingly. Coat and tie are not required for any activity.

The reception/welcome at Waybur Theater provides an excellent opportunity to visit informally with the course commander and staff. The Cadets will not attend the reception. The Radcliff/Fort Knox Convention and Tourism Commission will serve refreshments.

Plan to provide your own transportation when with your Cadet.

Please also make your own lodging arrangements. Several motels are available in the adjacent community of Radcliff and in nearby Elizabethtown and Louisville, Ky. The tourism commission will send lodging information to anyone who requests it. You may request lodging information by answering “yes” to Question 3 on the enclosed reply card. The card should be returned in a timely manner with name and a complete address. Visit the Radcliff/Fort Knox tourism Web site at www.radclifftourism.org, or call the tourism commission at (800) 334-7540. The nearest airport is Louisville International Airport. Fort Knox is approximately 35 miles south of the airport.

Vehicles entering Fort Knox are required to have a military decal or a day pass, which can be obtained in the military police station at the Chaffee Gate entrance. However, be sure to bring the invitation with you. Those attending family day or graduation can enter through the gate without a decal or pass as long as they carry and present this invitation to the gate guard. Otherwise, you will be instructed to obtain a pass, which can be a time-consuming process.

Fort Knox is also a secure post and people and vehicles are subject to search upon entry into and exit from the post, and while within the boundaries of the military reservation. Federal law prohibits the possession of firearms and other dangerous weapons on Fort Knox by any person.

You are welcome to bring additional guests, but please include them on the enclosed reply card on the back cover of this pamphlet.
